HOBICO is a Tokyo-based business development company that goes into the field, connects customers, suppliers, logistics partners, and overseas networks, and turns early-stage opportunities into real transactions.
HOBICO specializes in entering business opportunities that have not yet become commercial flows, and establishing the first transaction by connecting customers, suppliers, field operations, logistics, and contract terms.
Rather than stopping at desk-based market research, we gather insights from people involved in field operations, and accompany our clients through proposals to decision-makers, deal structuring, partner discovery, and transaction execution.
We started with sake export as our entry point into overseas trade. Through that process, we learned that successful overseas expansion requires not just product strength, but commercial flow design encompassing licensing, logistics, local partners, sales channels, and payment terms. We now apply that experience across a wider range of industries.
We turn early-stage business opportunities into real commercial flows by connecting customers, suppliers, and partners.
We support customer development, partner discovery, and market entry for new products, services, and cross-border businesses.
We structure pricing, logistics, quality, contracts, and payment terms, supporting the process from the first transaction to repeatable business.
We enter the field to understand challenges, business practices, and decision-making structures that are invisible from a desk.
We identify the key stakeholders needed to close a deal — customers, suppliers, field operators, and overseas partners.
We organize pricing, logistics, quality requirements, contracts, and payment terms into an executable commercial flow.
We accompany clients from initial negotiations through term negotiation and operational coordination to close the first deal.
We help turn a completed transaction into an ongoing commercial flow, and expand into adjacent opportunities and new markets.
HOBICO operates across industries where building a new commercial flow requires hands-on execution capability — not just strategic advice.
The following includes projects led or supported by HOBICO as well as by our founder in a personal capacity. Some details have been anonymized or abstracted out of confidentiality and consideration for the parties involved.
Supported the launch of a Japanese subsidiary for a foreign inspection company specializing in cargo inspection of steel products and raw materials. Established commercial flows with major domestic manufacturers and trading houses.
Mapped existing flows, competitive dynamics, local players, and entry opportunities across Kenya and Tanzania. Developed customer acquisition, partner search, and local expansion strategies over approximately one year of hands-on support.
Supported a university-based startup from pre-founding stage through business concept development, customer problem framing, pitch materials, and fundraising narrative. Helped secure major funding before the company's formal launch.
Driving the launch of a capsule toy business in the Dubai market from scratch — sourcing product supply routes, developing local partners, and coordinating with potential installation sites to build the initial commercial flow.
